Bio

Appearance:

As a bear +Anima, one would expect Senri to be imposing, muscular, even brutish … However, he is anything but. While tall, he has a deceivingly slender build that hides his considerable strength. His countenance leaves something to be desired, as well; for the most part, his blank stare gives off the impression that there really isn’t much happening between the ears.

Along with grey eyes, he has a thick, slightly more than shoulder-length mane of grey hair adorned with tiny blue beads. Dressed head to toe with apparel characteristic of your typical Native American attire, his entire outfit is made out of what appears to be buckskin-like material. This includes a v-neck poncho, which covers the majority of a long-sleeved tunic. He also wears leggings of the same variety, with protective shin guards and moccasins on his feet. Around his waist is a thick leather belt, which holds a falchion, rations, and his very, very treasured book. This is very dear to him, as in it are mementos (particularly flowers) serving as basically the only way he can make and retain new memories.

Another significant accessory of Senri’s is his eye patch. The black band, previously his father’s hair-tie, covers a scar earned during the awakening of his +Anima. In the same event he also suffered a blow to his torso, leaving him with a nasty set of claw marks.

On his right arm (hidden by his sleeve) is a tribal-style tattoo representing his bear anima. When he taps into his +Anima powers, it is this arm, and only this arm, that transforms.

Personality:

Senri is… unique. He is extremely quiet, to the point where it comes as a shock for people to find that he is not, indeed, a mute. When he does speak, his sentences never span more than a few words, nor is there much depth to them. A conversationalist, he most definitely is not.

This, on top of his characteristic blank stare, cause most people to think of him as an absent-minded simpleton. More often than not he seems to be in his own little bubble, and well, he probably is. That’s not to say he isn’t aware of the world around him, however. He’s just a little odd.

There was a time when Senri was ‘normal’, but after the event that led to his father’s death and gained him his anima, a few screws came loose. Not only did he suffer severe amnesia, but his emotions also became suppressed, to the extent that it is as though he has a lock on his subconscious. Hence the seemingly impersonal, clueless personality.

That being said, he has not lost the ability to develop attachments to people. This is obvious in his relationship with fellow +Anima Cooro, Husky and Nana, whom he is extremely protective of and loyal to.

He also has an unusual fondness for flowers, which he collects in his book (his most treasured possession!). They are actually the keys to his memory, as he associates each one with a person or thing he doesn’t want to forget.

Abilities:

The most obvious of Senri’s abilities is his association with the bear anima; in addition to being exceptionally strong (especially considering his physique), he can have his arm morph into that of a bear at will. As such, he’s a skilled hand-to-hand fighter (though he also has a sword at his disposal). His anima’s true form, however, is much stronger; so much so that he needs to lock his consciousness away in order to keep it in control.

Senri’s also an excellent cook, and can create delectable dishes out of almost anything (as long as it’s edible…). He has a knack for picking out just the right herbs and spices to bring out the taste of even the blandest of meals.

In Daisychain, however, Senri’s anima-based abilities will be limited to his being able to have his arm transform.

Weaknesses:

Senri’s major flaw is his difficulty in making and retrieving memories; much to the chagrin of his acquaintances. His peculiarities make him seem rather impersonal, and thus social situations are a bit of a strain for him.

The fact that his anima is so strong that he has to suppress it (and his emotions) to keep it in control is a bit of a downer, as well.

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider

History:

Senri’s past is much a mystery, even (or rather, particularly) to himself. He was born into the Tooa tribe, a clan of Indian-like Kim-Un-Kur. Whereas individual views on +Anima vary greatly within Astaria and Sailand (the two opposing countries of the +Anima world), the Kim-Un-Kur have come to revere those gifted with such natural power.

Tragedy strikes an 8-year-old Senri, however, when he is on a trek with his father and fellow tribesman Ursa to find his own anima. Warnings of an insane +anima bear, Amurui, had been passed on throughout the region, and as luck would have it the trio finds themselves face to face with said killer. Physically, the attack left Senri with a blinded left eye and scars across his torso. Mentally, the damage was far more severe. In saving him, his father sacrificed both his life and anima, which he passed on to Senri (though part of Amurui’s spirit was absorbed as well). The event was enough to cause amnesia, and for the longest time Senri was unable to make new memories.

Following this he found himself on the slave market in Sailand, where Crystala, the beautiful leader of a caravan bought him for a cheap price. Lucky for him she was kind, and extremely patient; it was through her that he learned to retain memories again, and it was her who gave him his precious book.

On a journey to Astaria a couple of years later, a gang of bandits attempted to abduct him. While Crystala did her best to rescue him, he fell from a cliff into a wild and brutal river. Try as they might, the members of the caravan could not find him and were forced to give him up for dead.

The next chapter of Senri’s life is a mystery, but at the end of it he finds himself at the Astarian city of Abon. Here is where he meets Cooro and Husky, two fellow +Anima (a crow and fish, respectively). Upon learning that they are on a journey to find more of their kind, Senri decides to join them. Throughout their adventures they find many of their kind, including a young bat +Anima named Nana who chooses to tag along with them as well.

It is when the foursome arrives at Sailand from Moss Mountain (land of the Kim-Un-Kur) that Senri gets pulled into Manhattan. While waiting for Nana and Cooro to come back from investigating a nearby city, he and Husky are caught by slave traders. And when he wakes up…
